Of course crooks and spammers are going to try to take advantage of innocent people and employees when an opportunity arrises, right? With Microsoft ending the technical support of Windows 7 just last week, the scams have already begun.
Beware of crooks who might exalt trickery to coax you or your employees into paying for an “expiring Windows license” you do not need.
The newest scam involves a phone call from a person who says that they are a Microsoft employee. They may recommend a system upgrade that requires paying a fee. They may also request to get remote access to your computer, putting the user and your organization at risk of breach.
Here’s the deal. Microsoft if not going to call you without permission. For Think Anew clients, we take care of software updates and technical maintenance for you.
If you get a “phishy” call, do not act immediately. End the call without action and report to your IT solutions provider (Think Anew clients report or Think Anew Help Desk) immediately.
Stay safe in the swarm of scams of the world.
